THE GOLDEN GIRLS
escape from shady pines - queue design
america’s favorite miami ladies are back in a never before aired episode — and you’re along for the ride!
-
Blanche’s car is missing…hey…so is the phonebook…MA!
After “borrowing” the car to break out a friend, Sophia finds herself trapped at Shady Pines retirement home. Dorothy, Blanche,
and Rose must find a way to break her out—before it’s “lights out!”.A queue centered project, The Golden Girls: Escape from Shady Pines was designed as a tribute to the beloved series, welcoming guests to step onto the sets. But what starts off as an ordinary backstage tour turns into a fun (and funny) adventure for guests to board their very own Wicker Whip 3000—a trackless ride vehicle featuring the iconic wicker couch from the living room set—to rescue Sophia from a mixup at Shady Pines Retirement Home and race through 1980s Miami.
The show building houses an interior queue of two large themed rooms with loads of photo opportunities in the Hollywood Rotunda (6,106 sq ft.) and the Living Room Set (6,561 sq. ft.).
Splitting into two Pre-Show rooms (4,071 sq. ft.), guests watch the kitchen set come to life when it’s “lights, camera, action!” and Rose, Blanche, and Dorothy appear on set (utilizing automated moving set pieces, practical lighting, and peppers ghost illusion projections).
Rose sends guests out to the Lenai (6,960 sq. ft.) to board their ride vehicles (Lightning Lane option takes guests from the Hollywood Rotunda directly to the Lanai).
Post-ride includes a gift shop filled with every bit of Golden Girls merchandise and a Tiki Bar featuring all of Blanche’s sinful delights.
