INTERNATIONAL PEACE MUSEUM
-
Served as Creative Consultant and Designer for the second half of the process for the brand new International Peace Museum (Dayton, Ohio), I collaborated with the client — museum President Kevin Kelly — to take their new white-box commercial space and create a modern, welcoming feel to it. Focusing on their message of peace and education, and working on a non-profit budget, we created accent pieces to the large space to help ground it and give it character.
Part of my project was also a refresh of their dated branding. The client wanted something sleek and modern yet still immediately recognizable as a symbol of peace. I took the idea of an origami crane—the patience and precision is takes to make one—mixing it with the traditional icon of peace, the dove, with geometric line work.
The museum space not only hosts rotating exhibits but also acts as a community space—hosting lectures in the main hall and live performances on the Paramount stage—peace literature library, a children’s learning room, and a satellite radio space for NPR in Dayton, Ohio. The International Peace Museum in Dayton, Ohio — Opened Summer 2022
